Tufted Titmouse in Flight

Tufted Titmouse in Flight

This entry is part 5 of 13 in the series Birds at My Birdfeeder

This entry is part 5 of 13 in the series Birds at My Birdfeeder  Wow, those Tufted Titmouse (Baelophus bicolor) are quick little guys.  I tried many shots to get one in flight and so far this is the best of the lot.  I’m not particularly happy with it – for example, the feet are a little […]

Another View of Indian Hole Brook

Here’s another photo of Indian Hole Brook in Indian Wells State Park in Shelton, Connecticut.  This was kind of a tough shot because there was a downed tree that I had to bend back to take the shot.  If it had slipped, it would have smashed into my tripod and my whole rig would […]

Indian Hole Brook in Indian Wells State Park

Indian Hole Brook in Indian Wells State Park

Here’s a close-up of Indian Hole Brook located in Indian Wells State Park in Shelton, Connecticut.  This is a beautiful little stream that runs over Indian Wells Waterfall and then flows into the Housatonic River.  It’s a very short and easy hike and I would recommend visiting if you’re in the area. Dark-Eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis)

Dark-Eyed Junco in the Snow

Last Sunday after the freak October snow storm, I photographed some birds outside around my bird feeder.  This little guy, a Dark-Eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis), was kind enough to do a little posing for me.  The birds must have been famished after the storm because they were attacking the bird feeder.  All of the snow […]

Waterfall at Indian Wells State Park - Shelton, Connecticut

Waterfall at Indian Wells State Park, October 2011

There are some photos on this blog of the waterfall at Indian Wells State Park in Shelton, Connecticut, but I thought they could be better, especially since I’m now using Nik Software’s Color Efex 4.0 in post-processing.  So, yesterday I was driving past the park and decided to stop and take a few shots.  It was […]

October Snow Storm in Connecticut

October Snow Storm

Hard to believe, but we’re getting a freak October snow storm here in Connecticut.  The trees in my area still have most of their leaves – they must be really confused.  When this is all finished, we could have up to 5 inches here and possibly more in northern Connecticut. Another post will be coming tonight […]

One of the Local Squirrels, Frustrated by the New Bird Feeder

Here’s a photo of one of my local hoodlums squirrels as he tries to figure out how to pillage my Nature Products Model 431 bird feeder.  So far, he’s been totally unsuccessful and is relegated to picking up scraps that the birds leave.  If you look closely at his fuzzy little face, you can see the […]
