Eisenhower Historic Site in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Eisenhower National Historic Site In Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

In May of 2010, I visited the Eisenhower National Historic Site located in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.  Below are two of the photos I took at the site.  I know these are not particularly nature oriented (especially the one of the tractor), but decided to include them here anyway. I really enjoyed my trip to Eisenhower National […]

Stream in Webb Mountain Park during winter

Close-up Photos of a stream in Webb Mountain Park

I took these two photos this winter in Webb Mountain Park located in Monroe, Connecticut.  I used my Canon T1i and a Tokina 16.5-135mm lens (one of my favorite lens).  Also used a tripod, remote release, and mirror lock-up. More photos of Webb Mountain Park will be going up soon.  In the spring and summer, […]

Turkeys in Litchfield County, Connecticut

Turkeys in Litchfield County, Connecticut

I saw these Turkeys in a field in Litchfield County, Connecticut close to Litchfield and was able to quickly take some shots of them before they headed back into the woods.  There was a flock of about a dozen and they didn’t seem in too big of a hurry. Cunningham Falls in Thurmont, Maryland

Waterfalls at Cunningham Falls State Park

Here are a couple of photos of Cunningham Falls located in Cunningham Falls State Park near Thurmont, Maryland in the Catoctin Mountains.  There is a very nice boardwalk leading right to the falls after a short, but very scenic walk from the parking area.  The falls has about a 78 foot fall and is the largest […]

Burnside's Bridge at Antietam National Battleground

Photos of Antietam National Battlefield

Last May, I visited Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg, Maryland.  Although not quite as awe inspiring as Gettysburg, it impacted me in a very similar way, especially when visiting spots such as Burnside’s Bridge and the Sunken Road, or “Bloody Lane”.  If you visit Maryland and have any interest in Civil War History, Antietam National Battlefield […]

Dog Pond in Goshen, Connecticut

Two Photos of Dog Pond in Goshen, Connecticut

Here are two photos of Dog Pond located in Goshen, Connecticut.  It’s an approximately 65 acre lake that has a Connecticut DEP boat launch that is opened year round.  It would be a great place for a nice leisurely paddle or some relaxing fishing. These photos were taken with my Canon T1i and a Tokina 80-400mm lens […]

Birds in White Memorial Foundation

In early Autumn of 2010, I visited the White Memorial Foundation in Litchfield, Connecticut and took these photos of a hawk (I believe it is a Red Tailed Hawk, Buteo jamaicensis) and a Downy Woodpecker (Picoides pubescens).  White Memorial Foundation is approximatley 4000 acres and has a conservation center and numerous trails, as well as an […]

Sanderling at Hammonasset Beach State Park

Sanderlings at Hammonasset Beach State Park

These photos were taken on a very windy day in the Autumn of 2010 at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Connecticut.  The Sanderlings were running in and out with the surf (as Sanderlings tend to do) and feeding on these little mussels.  They are pretty funny little birds. Hammonasset Beach State Park, located on Long Island Sound, is […]
