First Photograph with New Dissecting Microscope

Recently, I received a small refund that I wasn’t expecting, so decided to buy a new photography tool (or, more appropriately, a new toy).  I had been looking at a dissecting microscope for quite a while, so I pulled the trigger on an AmScope 7X-90X Inspection Trinocular Zoom Stereo Microscope + 144-LED Compact Light.  I haven’t had a chance to play with it much until today.  Wow, what a blast.  I like this particular scope because it has a third ocular for the camera.  I had to also buy this adapter (AmScope Canon SLR / D-SLR Camera Adapter for Microscopes – Microscope Adapter).

So, here’s one of the first photos from this new rig using my Canon 7D, a close-up of a very small mushroom shot at 90x.  Everything seemed to work great.  I just have to learn some new techniques, including focus stacking in order to increase the depth of field.  That will be the next set of trials.  I’ll keep you posted.
