A Green Winged Teal marches through the marsh
A few weeks ago when I visited The Coastal Center at Milford Point, I saw this little guy walking across the mudflats in the marsh at low tide. He was walking towards his other Green Winged Teal buddies that were about a football field’s length away. The funny thing was that other ducks were swimming and flying past him, but he never wavered in his determination to hike though the mud. I thought maybe he was going to stop along the way and feed, but he keep his head up and just marched straight ahead. Wanting to stretch his legs? Forgot how to fly or swim? I’m not sure, but I’m guessing he just marches to the beat of a different drummer (sorry, couldn’t resist).
