Sailboat and cranes in New London, Connecticut

A sailboat cruises the Thames River in New London, Connecticut

Thought I would post something a little different.  This is a photo I took in the fall of last year at New London, Connecticut.  The sailboat is heading northerly on the Thames River and I was standing on the grounds of Fort Trumbull.  It was a beautiful, brisk fall day and only a few boats seemed to be out.  I really liked the boat with the yellow cranes in the background.

Fort Trumbull was an interesting place, but unfortunately the interior was closed for the season and only the exterior grounds were open.  I plan to go back this summer and explore some more.  I also visited Fort Griswold on the other side of the river in Groton, Connecticut.  Also a very interesting place and I’ll post some photos of it soon.

I took this photo with my trusty Canon T1i and Tokina 16.5-135 lens.  Unfortunately, this particular Tokina lens isn’t feeling too well so I had to sent it back for repairs.  The T1i was giving me an “Error 1” whenever the lens was attached (this is before I purchased the 7D);  the Tokina distributor seemed to have experience with this particular problem, so I shipped it off about two weeks ago.  I really like this lens, so I hope it makes a full recovery.  I did get the Canon 28-135 with the 7D, so I do have a backup in that range, but I haven’t tried it out yet.
