Nonnewaug Falls in Woodbury, Connecticut

I’m starting to get behind in my posting – I had hoped to post twice a day, but the weather has been so nice here (high in the low 50’s today) that I’m taking every opportunity that I can to photograph (make hay while the sun shines).  I figure that when it gets really nasty outside, that will give me an opportunity to increase my posting.

The photography above is of Nonnewaug Falls located in the Nonnewaug Falls Open Space Preserve in Woodbury, Connecticut.  Just when I think I’ve seen the best waterfalls in the state, I find this jewel.  It was absolutely beautiful and because of the wet summer and fall, it had a good amount of flow.  If you want to know more, check out this website – everything you ever wanted to know about Nonnewaug Falls.

In my opinion, the best views of the falls is on the other side of the East Nonnewaug River that flows over the falls.  Today, it was a rather easy crossing – in fact, I was able to cross at two different locations and make a big loop.  However, I think if there was high spring flows, it might be much more difficult if not impossible.  I don’t know this for sure, but something to keep in mind if you plan to visit the falls.

I’ll be really busy the next few days, but I’ll see if I can post the video I made of Nonnewaug Falls tomorrow.
