View of the Connecticut River from Haddam Meadows State Park

As you can see in the photos, the sky was intense the day I visited Haddam Meadows State Park.  It was late afternoon and the sun was behind me shining through some clouds and below the ones in the photo.  It looked like a giant spotlight was focused on the trees in the far distance.  The whole scene was very striking and powerful.

Haddam Meadows is different than many other Connecticut State Parks I’ve visited.  It’s very flat (I’m assuming it’s in the Connecticut River floodplain) and has a very nice boat launch with excellent access to the Connecticut River.  I enjoyed taking photos and just watching the boats cruise up and down the river.  I have a sailing kayak (a Hobie Adventure Island) that I’ll probably take here next year.  I haven’t done any serious photography from the kayak yet, but I plan to gear up for it next year.

As always, more photos to follow in later posts.
