Sanderlings at Hammonasset Beach State Park

These photos were taken on a very windy day in the Autumn of 2010 at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Connecticut.  The Sanderlings were running in and out with the surf (as Sanderlings tend to do) and feeding on these little mussels.  They are pretty funny little birds.

Hammonasset Beach State Park, located on Long Island Sound, is a good place to take photos in the off season.  Not many people and a few interesting things to photo.  Plus, there’s no entrance fee in the off season.
